ROYAL AUSTRALIAN REGIMENT 60th ANNIVERSARY COMMEMORATIONS 2008.

BACKGROUND
In 2008 the Royal Australian Regiment will mark its 60th Birthday on Sunday 23rd November 2008 having formed on that date in 1948. The RAR Association (NSW ) is working towards a number of events that will highlight the Service and History of the Regiment during its 60 years of proud and dedicated Service to this Nation.

1: All former and serving Members of the RAR are requested to contact their Battalion or State RAR Associations in order to ‘book' to attend the November RAR Commemoration Dinner and Parade in Sydney .

WHO IS ORGANISING THE COMMEMORATIONS?
1: The RAR 60th Commemorations Committee is working via the RAR NSW Association.
EVENTS AND AIMS
To mark the 60th Anniversary of the Foundation of the RAR, its Service, History and the Fallen; all RAR Members, past and present are invited to:- attend the Commemoration Events in Sydney November 21st; Saturday 22nd and focused on the Regiments Birthday 23rd November 2008.
Friday 21st November: REGIMENTAL DINNER. It is now cancelled. Reason being is that this Government has refused to recognise that the RARs 60th Year of Service has any merit and our planned Dinner is outside any of their criteria which would result in support or funding?
The Committee has worked up an event for Friday night at Victoria Barracks, starting 17:30hrs. Cost is $20 per person. Bookings are required.
Saturday 22nd November: CONFIRMED. A Service at the RAR Memorial at Regimental Square. Off George Street. 13:00hrs start.
Sunday 23rd November: CONFIRMED. Service and Parade Of COLOURS. Victoria Barracks. The Parade will start at 16:00hrs sharpe all Members are requested to be in place by 15:30hrs. Enter via MAIN Gate off Oxford Street. The gates open at 13:30 BE EARLY and enjoy the events and displays.
All Battalion COLOURS of the RAR from 1RAR to 9RAR will be present. This event has solid Army support and will be a very iconic day with ALL the COLOURS present. RAR Members are requested to support this special day and attend Victoria Barracks.
WHAT CAN YOU DO?
1: All RAR Members who wish to be a part of the November Commemorations must go through the 'booking' process that will be advised to all Associations to ensure your place at the Parade of COLOURS on 23rd November 2008.
2: The Associations are requested to contact the Commemorations Committee; at the above email address.
3: The only Memorabilia product for the Commemorations, is a high quality decanter filled with high quality Port. The design is (front) a “Skippy” Badge and dates of the Commemorations. (rear) It lists all the Battalions of the RAR and the ODE.
