ACTIVITIES

We have several ongoing activities representing the combined interests of present and past members of The Regiment. Many members are actively involved; all members help ensure we can continue our important work through their membership fees.

Memorials

The RAR Memorial in Regimental Square in Sydney provides The Regiment with a commemorative focus in the heart of the city. The memorial was made possible through planning and fund raising undertaken by the RAR Association. It will soon be updated to include post Vietnam operations involving The Regiment.

The Association regularly consults with Sydney City Council about maintenance of the Regimental Memorial. We also make representations to the Federal Government to ensure continued maintenance of the overseas graves of our fallen comrades.

Through the RAR Foundation, the Association constructed the RAR National Memorial Walk at Gallipoli Barracks Enoggera. Members of the Queensland Branch of the RAR Association continue to maintain the grounds.

Commemoration Services

Each year we organise the Anzac Day service at the RAR Memorial in Sydney’s Regimental Square.

All members are invited to attend an Anzac Day lunch. This is particularly appreciated by members visiting Sydney without a particular Battalion venue to attend. We also provide wreaths and representatives at commemorative services throughout the year.

Welfare

Assistance is available to those who have served The Regiment and are in need. Our welfare officer is in regular contact with the War Widows Guild through which we extend our support to the partners and children of deceased members.

National Liaison

The State branches and National Executive of the RAR Association work together towards our common purpose.

We communicate regularly with the RSL on issues of shared interest including preparations for the annual Anzac Day march.

Events

The Regimental birthday luncheon every November brings members and their partners together from all over the State. Our family day and shooting competition are also popular.
We are keen to support activities in which our members express an interest. If you have an idea for an event, please let us know.

Duty First

Duty First is a quarterly magazine produced by the RAR Association NSW and supplied to members in all States. The magazine is a permanent record of the history of The Regiment.
It is issued to libraries and units both nationally and overseas.
